Overtitle is built to know as little about you as possible.

What runs on your Mac stays on your Mac

Subtitle files, playback positions, viewing habits, calibration settings — all of it is processed and stored locally. The App has no user accounts, no analytics SDK, and never uploads your files or media information.

The only data we process

License activation: when you activate, we store your license key, a machine name (as reported by macOS), an anonymous instance identifier, and timestamps on our license server (hosted on Cloudflare). This exists solely to enforce the activation limit.
Purchase data: checkout is handled by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details and email under Paddle's privacy policy; we receive your email and transaction id to issue your license.
Update checks: the App periodically fetches a public update feed (a static file); no personal data is sent.

What we never do

No selling or sharing of personal data
No tracking of what you watch
No third-party advertising or analytics

Data removal

Write to hello@overtitle.app and we will delete your license records (this deactivates the license).
